Livestock - Birds

We cater for the full spectrum of Bird Lovers, from the novice to the bird breeder. Whether you want a bird for talking, taming, singing, chirping or one just to look at, we can help you. We are selling birds for the last 30 years and will help you to get what you want. We stock Budgies, Cockatiels, Parrots, Pheasants, Ducks, Pigeons, Quail, Canaries, Lovebirds, Finches and many more.

The new trend in keeping birds as pets are to get a hand-reared bird already tamed and can be handled with ease. We keep a big selection of hand-reared birds for you to select out off.

Whether your bird has a medical condition or is in perfect health, you want to give it the best possible care. Feel free to contact us for advice on all your birds nutritional, breeding and health needs.

Generally there are four factors that contribute to a bird's health - Health Care, Nutritional Status, Management Practices, and Genetic Background. Nothing, other than selecting healthy stock, can be done to change the genetic background of a bird since that aspect is determined when the egg is initially fertilized. However, as bird owners, we can do plenty about the other three factors to ensure the long-term health of our birds.

Checklist when Buying a Bird
•• Eyes should be clear and bright.
•• . Bill should be of the correct shape for the species and not distorted in any way.
•• . Droppings should be well formed, except those of fruit or nectar-feeding birds, which are very watery.
•• . . . Feathers around the vent should be clean. Staining here usually indicates that the bird is suffering from digestive disorder.
•• . All claws should be present, and there must be no swelling of feet or toes, which may indicate a foot infection.
•• . . . Breastbone, running down the centre of the body in the vicinity of the lower chest, should be covered on each side with muscle, rather than feeling very prominent.
•• . . . Birds should be in tight feather. Bald patches may indicate feather-plucking or the viral disease seen in parrots known as psittacine beak and feather disease (PBFD).

Did you ever consider getting an aviary for the garden and make it the central focus point of your garden and at the same time enjoy the relaxed feeling just to look at the birds enjoying themselves in your aviary.

A budgie, canary or cockatiel in a cage makes the ideal gift for our elderly as it is easy to look after and will give many hours enjoyment to them. Birds are good companions as they are always jumping around, eating and talking to each other all day.

Get your child a small aviary with say budgies or finches and let them experience the circle of life. See them, lay eggs, hatch, feed the babies, grow feathers and fly for the first time.
